Driving to Texas

It took us 2 1/2 days to drive 1480 miles, a very
long drive but beautiful scenery, the company
was fine too. No one asked "are we there yet",
Oh wait I guess I was saying that by the end!
Here's some beautiful rolling Texans hills.

We finally got to see the Monticello Temple!

***Special Event***

We welcome our 6th grandchild born while we
were in the MTC on August 4! Elise Kristene Allen

The Allen family is growing, Quintin looks a little
worried about it all, but as you can see below, he
just loves his baby Lise!

Isn't this just the sweetest thing ever? We are
so thankful for this day in age when we can get
instant pictures, videos and even "SKYPE" so
we can see this new sweet baby. Now they just
need to invent a way to touch and smell them!

Here's a few of the great people we met at the MTC

Some of our favorite instructors.

Hermana Truscott, our very patient Spanish
tutor. She spoke spanish so beautifully.

Sister Hunt from New Zealand, she was going
to Australia for her mission but they sent her
to Provo for the MTC training! Tells you how
important the MTC is.

Elder and Sister Goates from West Valley,
heading to Uruguay to be temple workers,
neither one spoke spanish but have been
working with a tutor for the past few months.

Sister Wise from Las Vegas going to L.A. Calif
to work in the Family History Library there.

August 1, 2010

Finally! We are in the MTC in Provo for our training as full-time missionaries and as office missionaries in the TEXAS, HOUSTON mission.

Highlights of the 1st week at the MTC!
* The Spirit of this place is unbelievable!

* Having sets of missionaries come and ask if they can bear their testimonies to us in the language they are learning; so far we've heard Spanish twice and Tagalog once.

* Watching the new missionaries arrive on Wednesday, saying goodbye to their parents, and then walking into their new life! That was an awesome experience that brought back memories of saying good-bye to David and Peter. (550 new missionaries on Wednesday!!!)

* Watching 2,000 starving 19 year olds attacking the cafeteria on Fast Sunday. One young Elder was eating a bowl of Lucky Charms as he stood in line waiting for his Sunday dinner!

* Feeling the Spirit so strong as you testify to your "investigator" (a volunteer) that The Plan of Salvation is truly God's plan for his children because He loves us so much!
